Activities range from sitting on the beach relaxing to a heart-pounding water skiing adventure. Nevada State MuseumThe Nevada State Museum is a great place to spend an afternoon. Nevada’s colorful history is presented, with lots of different exhibits that range from thousands of years old to present day. This is the place for the history buff in your family. The Way It Was MuseumThe museum displays the most complete collection of Comstock mining artifacts in the world plus rare photos, lithographs and maps of the Bonanza period. This hands-on museum is perfect for the entire family. Sparks Heritage MuseumThis museum contains historic memorabilia depicting early Sparks’ history, which is located just outside of Reno Reno CasinosWant to try your luck? Downtown Reno is filled with multiple casinos offering a variety of choices. Some of the casinos include The Nugget, Peppermill, El Dorado, and many more. International Birds of Prey MuseumThe International Birds of Prey Museum showcases the beauty of some of the world’s most dangerous birds. Many exhibits include actual birds, both live and preserved, some of which have been somewhat domesticated and can be seen up close and personal. Donner Memorial State ParkLocated in the beautiful Sierra Nevada, Donner Memorial State Park offers the summer vacationer opportunities for camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, water-skiing, and hiking. In winter, visitors can cross-country ski and snowshoe on groomed trails and enjoy the season's beauty. Visitors are welcome year-round at the Emigrant Trail Museum and at the Pioneer Monument, built to commemorate those who immigrated to California from the east in the mid-1800's. Pyramid LakePyramid Lake provides a great outdoor experience with beautiful desert scenery. Activities range from fishing to water skiing, and are available for pretty much the entire year. Mormon StationMormon Station is the site of Nevada's first permanent nonnative settlement. A replica of the original trading post built in 1851 houses a small museum with relics of pioneer days. Picnic and group facilities are available. The museum is open from 9:00 am-4:30 pm, 7 days a week. Mormon Station is located in the small town of Genoa, 12 miles south of Carson City via U.S. 395 and State Route 206, and is open May through October. McKinley Arts and Culture CenterConstructed in 1910 and formerly known as McKinley Park School, the McKinley Arts and Culture Center is an important anchor within the Truckee River Arts and Culture District. The McKinley Arts and Culture Center has undergone extensive rehabilitation with funding from the City of Reno and the State of Nevada Commission for Culture Affairs. This historic building now boasts gallery space, arts and crafts workshops, the Arts and Culture Division and provdies rental office space for local non-profit arts organizations. An auditorium, board room and class room are available for rental by tenants and outside cultural groups for classes, rehearsal and performance space.
